The original CR10 cards are 5 inches by 3 inches in size, which is a bit small to do justice to many of the photographs. I would suggest that you ask for an enlargement of the original on a Laser A4 photocopy. This will make the most of the photo and the card will be in colour. Current cost (July 2008) is £1.25 for each side which makes the overall cost of the card £2.50 plus postage and a search fee of £2 if you quote the full name and id no. Southampton also hold seaman records from 1921 to 1941.(CR1 and CR2 series). The Discharge A Number is used as the numerical identifier for the seaman and the id no was dropped. Just under half of the CR10 cards examined so far include the Discharge A number which can help when post 1921 records are sought.
