Exhibitions
In 2002 I used 50 CR10 cards for Rush born seamen as part of an exhibition I put on in Rush. I was astonished at the amount of interest and extra information that came from the local community. I wanted to see what the effect would be if similar exhibitions were mounted in other coastal communities and I have pursued this idea.

In 2009 Newry and Mourne Museum organised an exhibition which used CR10 cards for local men, while I organised temporary exhibitions, working with local people, in Islandmagee, Co Antrim, Skerries, Co Dublin and Clogherhead, Co Louth.

In 2010 the Dundalk County Museum, curator Brian Walsh, hosted an exhibition which included CR10 card copies for 370 Dundalk seamen. The exhibition ran from July until November. An accompanying 24 page booklet was produced which is available from the museum or can be downloaded from their website at www.dundalkmuseum.ie

In April 2011 the Inishowen Maritime Museum, Greencastle, Co Donegal, manager Gemma Havlin, opened a permanent exhibition featuring 170 Inishowen seamen. An accompanying book was produced which can be purchased from the museum.

I also staged three temporary exhibitions for local seamen at the following venues:-
Nautilus Centre, Kilkeel, Co Down. (100 seamen)
Carlingford Heritage Centre, Carlingford, Co Louth. (70 seamen)
Larne Museum and Arts Centre, Larne, Co Antrim. (150 seamen)

The exhibition programme for 2012 includes:-

Rush Library, Rush, Co Dublin.
This will be a temporary exhibition featuring 100 Rush merchant seamen. It will run for 2 weeks from 5 March.

Canadian seamen

I have collected data on approximately 1060 Canadian seamen during our visits to Southampton and their details have now been included in this website. Meanwhile I will be preparing new web pages to introduce them.
