William Warren, RS2 No 804263, from Kingstown, Co Dublin

Lost withRMS Leinster, 10 October 1918

According to his CR10 card, William Warren was born on 27 December 1882 in Kingstown, Co Dublin. He was working as a third class steward and lived with his wife, Charlotte, at 6 Wellington Street, Kingstown. His CR10 card is marked in red ‘deceased SS Leinster 10.10.18’

The Dublin Steam Packet Company operated the mail service between Dublin and Holyhead. On 10 October 1918 the Leinster was torpedoed and sunk just after leaving Dublin with the loss of 700 lives. The crew totalled 72 of whom around half were saved. There are CR10 cards for most of the survivors and for a handful of those lost.
